NOTICE FILING FOR OFFICE CEREDO MUNICIPAL ELECTION It is further ordained that any person eligible to hold office within the Municipality who is not a member of the Citizens Party or Peoples Party may be placed on the ballot for such elections by filing a notice of candidacy with the Recorder as provided herein. Notice of Election It is hereby ordained that the Recorder shall, at least seven days prior to filing deadline for candidacy, but not more than ten days prior to filing deadline, place a legal advertisement in a newspaper of general circulation within the Municipality, which shall announce the deadline for filing of candidates. Filing Deadline Any candidate seeking office in a municipal election shall file with the recorder not before January 2nd, 2017 of the then current year and no later than January 23rd, 2017. A notice of candidacy shall be on a form provided by the Recorder. Filing Fee Any candidate seeking office in a municipal election shall pay the Recorder not before January 2nd of the current year and not later than January 23rd a fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for a Council position, a fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) for the Recorder's Position and one hundred dollars ($100.00) for the Mayoral position. Any person otherwise eligible to hold office who is financially unable to pay the filing fee as provided herein may sign a statement duly notarized, claiming inability to pay the filing fee and shall then be placed on the ballot as a candidate for election. Party Conventions Both parties recognized by Council for participation in municipal elections shall hold a convention for the purpose of nominating candidates for municipal office. The date, time and place of party conventions shall be determined by the party chairman or party executive committee. 103.4 VOTING BY ABSENTEES.
